Siobhan sleeps, or rather crashes hard, for transport to the hospital. Her will is strong, and her body fought to survive with everything it had. The presence of her brother gave her a sense of safety, and her subconscious lets the need for sleep finally take over. There will be vague recollections of being prodded awake and answering questions, of being moved from one location to another. She sleeps through the blood draws and the x-rays. The witch is so full of drugs that even the setting of the bones in her ankle do little to stir her.
When she next opens her eyes, truly opens them with some sort of cognizance, she has no idea how many hours have passed, or even where she is. Blinking at the bright lights and white ceiling, she wills her vision and the fuzziness in her head to clear. A sense of calm settles around her, a vague recollection of feeling safe, even as she tries to place her location.
"Chris?" It's the last, clear memory she has, clinging tight to her brother. Her voice sounds a little dry, and she tries again. "Christian?"

#

"He's gone to get something to eat," Harper says from the chair by her bed. He's only just arrived, he looks exhausted, and his hair is a mess. Sliding the chair closer to her, he sighs.
"Jenna's here too, but when Chris left, she went down to the gift shop to find you something to brighten your room." There's a quirk of a smile at that, because he knows how much his sister hates hospitals. The dreariness of them, the fear that she'll wind up sick and in bed in one for a prolonged period of time. The only reason she even goes to the hospital at home is because of Dr. Knight, and her trust of him.
"You broke your ankle, and they've got a boot cast on it right now, but said it should be set in four to six weeks."

#

Honestly, Siobhan's head is still fuzzy. Whether it's the drugs They (with a capital T is how They will always be remembered) gave her, or what the hospital gave her it's hard to know. She'll probably ask about Christian again in five minutes, and wonder about the cast in another ten. What she does take away is that that's Harper's voice, and that Harper is here with her.
She rolls her head toward the sound of his voice. Siobhan stares a moment, and blinks, making sure that he's not a figment and doesn't disappear when she closes her eyes. "Harper… "
Beat.
"Hospital?"
Beat.
"You're here …" Everything is stil a bit disjointed, so she's probably not making a whole lot of sense just yet. Simply trying to put the pieces together.

#
Taking her hand, he blocks out the fuzziness he's getting from her mind. "Why wouldn't I be here, Flutterbee?" Harper doesn't lift her hand for fear of knocking out the tubes, but he does give her fingers a bit of a squeeze.
"You're in the hospital. In Maine. It's where they found you." He knows he'll likely have to repeat things for a while, but he doesn't care.
She's alive.
That's all that matters. Even if he's still a bit confused by what happened between her and Cooper.
"I can go get your brother for you if want."

#

His touch brings a ghost of a smile across her face. She twists her hand a bit, clinging to his fingers as though they're a lifeline. "I don't know …" Something floats across her mind about school and graduation, but it's hard to grasp at the moment. Still she tries. "You have … school?"
Yes, that's it. He's supposed to be at school. Taking exams. Brooke told her to go see him, and she was going to go after his exams.
"Oh." Siobhan swallows, her thoughts and memories slowly reforming themselves. "I'm sorry."
A spike of panic goes through her when Harper suggests leaving. She tightens her grip on his fingers, frantically shaking her head. "No. No, please. Don't leave me."

#

"Graduation. I don't need to be there though," Harper tells her firmly. "I need to be here. With my wife." The clinging of his fingers causes him to squeeze hers gently.
"Shiv…" Shaking his head, he gives her fingers another squeeze. "It doesn't matter, okay? Can we just forget about that? I would rather focus on you, and getting you home. Your dad's coming as soon as he gets off his shift at the ER. He'll be able to take you home if he's allowed to."

#

She relaxes again when Harper doesn't leave the room. The thought of being alone right now simply terrifies her on a deep visceral level.
"You need … to graduate." Her brow furrows a little, but she lets it go. It's a sign of how distracted and out of sorts Siobhan is. Days, or weeks, from now, she'll probably fuss at him for it, but right now? She's just relieved to be safe and happy to have him here.
"It's my fault. I was scared to see you. If I'd gone to Boston right after the tour …" She'd have been safe. But then Brooke would have been with Them alone.
"Oh god. Brooke! Is she okay? Please tell me she's okay? And Lizzie? Did they get out?"

#

"Siobhan Donovan, I'll graduate whether or not I'm there to walk across a stage for my diploma, alright?" Harper knows he's going to have to have this argument with his parents too, as they'll want to see him actually graduate.
"I'm not leaving your side, unless you're coming with me, alright?"
His thumb strokes over the back of his hand, and he nods. "Brooke is fine. A broken wrist from what I heard. She's been in and out of it for a while, or so Rory says."
"Who's Lizzie? One of the others? Far as I know the girl they found with Brooke is alright."

#

"Alright." Harper should probably record this on a calendar. This level of agreeability and compliance from Siobhan isn't heard of, especially when she's set her mind about something. "I'm glad you're here."
The hybrid closes her eyes for a few moments, just letting herself relax. Brooke is alright. Lizzie is alright. Her eyes flutter open, "Who's Rory?"
Beat.
"Chris … was there, right?" Siobhan is getting more coherent, but that doesn't mean she's not still trying to make out what was real and what was her imagination.

#

"Rory?" Harper grins at that. "He's a good guy. Was my RA once upon a time, then moved back to England. Apparently he's back in the States though, and he was working with the Priory to find you." He hasn't gotten the full story. There wasn't time to sit and chat with Rory, not really. He's gotten enough of the story in bits and pieces, and pulled from the heads around him, that he's figured it out though.
"Your brother went with the team to rescue you. You're going to have to do something super special for him for his birthday."

#

Siobhan can't place the man, but she doesn't recall much after seeing Christian - and Mr. Blackwell - there. Unfortunately, she's not amnesiac, and she does recall those moments before her brother, Mr. Blackwell, and a woman with red hair were there. Being manhandled from the cell by Cruz, and knowing what he had in mind for her. It's fuzzy, but she partially remembers Mr. Blackwell towering over Cruz, but then she was tired and Christian was there and she was safe and the woman was comforting.
She shivers a little at the memory of Cruz, and twists her fingers to link through Harper's. "Small world," Siobhan whispers.
A faint smile touches her lips, "My brother. The hero."
Beat.
"I didn't miss his birthday? He's going to be eighteen. That's a big deal…" No, his birthday is after Harper's graduation, and if it's not graduation yet, she's good.
Siobhan is silent for a moment, reflecting. "Did they get them, Harper? The people who took us? They … did terrible things to people there." People might not tell Harper anything, but he'll have heard things anyway.

#

"Your brother, the brave young man who led them to you," Harper tells her. "My wife, the intelligent woman who left her ring behind and allowed him to find you." Kissing her fingertips, Harper shakes his head. "Not yet, but I'm pretty sure everyone else has forgotten it." He grins across at her and points out, "Except my sister, who apparently has been driving everyone nuts trying to perfect one of your cupcake recipes. I heard that the kitchen was littered with aborted attempts."
He sombers quite a bit, and nods. "Most of them are dead. A few were brought in for questioning."

#

"Who would have thought it?" Siobhan smiles with deep affection and pride in her brother. They may drive each other insane and needle each other endlessly, but at the end of the day, they do love one another and share a bond. Maybe not quite like the one Jenna and Harper share, but it is a bond. She'd have done the same for him, so she doesn't know why she's surprised that he did it for her. "Maybe get a hot guy to jump out of a cake for him?"
"They found the ring?" Siobhan seems both surprised and relieved. "It was the only thing I could think of. I never take it off, so I thought if someone who knew me found it …" They'd know she was in danger. "No one even knew I was back in the city."
"Good." Siobhan is not normally a dark, or violent person. She certainly doesn't wish people dead or take relief or satisfaction in their deaths. But They are a different matter. "They hurt people, Harper. They hurt them, sometimes for fun and then they killed them. I think they were experimenting on us. Cruz he wanted - " Siobhan's voice breaks in the middle, and she chokes on a sob, tears swelling in her eyes. If Christian and Mr. Blackwell hadn't gotten to her, she would have been another one of Cruz's playthings. "I was so scared. We tried to escape but they caught us and then I didn't get to see Brooke and Lizzie anymore …"

#

"Why not take him to a club for the night? Invite a few of his friends." They'll have to get special bands, or special allowance to get Christian into Siobhan's favored club, but he's fairly certain Mr. Collins will allow it, if only for one night, if they rent out the entire club or something. Since Christian did help save his girlfriend as well.
"Christian is still wearing it. He hasn't taken it off yet. They won't let you put it on until they're done with all the tests, but he's keeping it safe."
Exhaling slowly, he pets his thumb over the back of her hand. "Let it go, Siobhan, please? Don't think about it. If I think about it, I'll hunt down the few who managed to escape and break their necks myself."
Beat.
"You're safe. They're safe. Brooke's boyfriend is with her, and her family is on the way. The other girl was calling someone when I got here."

#

"That's a good idea," Siobhan says with soft, slow nod. "I bet Brooke knows a few local bands, or knows someone who does, and we could probably book one or two of those for the night. Or get a band and a deejay." It would be a great birthday surprise for her brother and his friends, who are a bit too young to hit the more 'upscale' clubs.
She shifts against the pillow and sighs. "More tests? I think I remember the vampires coming for my blood." The dancer frowns a little. It's an old joke she and Chris would make about getting blood drawn or their fingers pricked. It's not quite as funny at the moment, when the memory reappears about Brooke's boyfriend. Siobhan didn't believe it then, and she's not sure she believes it now, and she'd rather talk to Brooke before saying anything.
"X-rays too, I think. Maybe one of those MRIs?" She rests a hand on her stomach and winces just a little. It's tender, but nothing like it was before. Then again, nothing hurts they way it did before. Painkillers and antibiotics; her father is a doctor, she knows the drill.
"I'll try." It's all the dancer can offer. It was one of the more terrifying, horrifying things to happen her and she doesn't know that she'll be able to stop thinking about it.
Beat.
"I think - could you hold me, Harper? There's room …"

#

"Then it's settled. You can wheel yourself over to see Brooke when you both get the okay to leave bed, and talk to her about it. I'll get you whatever other numbers you need, and you can leave the rest up to Jenna."
Harper nods slowly. "They wanted to make sure that your ankle would heal so that you could dance again. It's one of the things I told them was absolutely necessary, and only the best orthopedic surgeon was allowed to touch it. We flew one in from New York." Harper is not above using his money for things like that.
"Let me just adjust your ankle harness so that you can twist over on your side." Getting up, he moves to the other side of the bed, and works the harness so that it's a little lower. Then he crawls in beside her and pulls her against him.
"It's not the best, but it's what I can do right now."

#

"Ohmigawd! I leave the two of you alone for twenty minutes of gift shop spreeing, and you're in bed together already?" Jenna's features are tight, worried, and she quickly moves to the side of the bed to set down a bouquet of sunflowers. "They were the brightest things they had." Skipping back out to the hall, she drags in an entire cart. Filled with teddy bears, balloons, magazines, boxes of chocolates, and a copy of Sera Roche's new best seller.
"Preston is here somewhere. I saw he and Ariel wandering a bit ago… and Christian ran into your parents, and they were busy fussing at him for going off with the Priory, and hugging him for getting you out."

#

"She'll be in her element," Siobhan grins softly. Party planning really is Jenna's thing. Siobhan will just be there for input and pointers and making sure her brother doesn't really get wind of what's going on until it's mostly done.
The dancer looks down at the boot cast on her ankle and pulls a face. It still isn't up to her usual snarky standards of disapproval. Siobhan is still worn out, and just happy to be out of that place. "I'm going to miss the last leg of the tour." Her frown deepens. "No pun intended."
Later, she'll have to find out why they didn't just get someone to heal the bone properly, and see if that's still a possibility. Not right now, though.
"No," Siobhan leans back against Harper, placing her hand over his. She gives a deeply contented sigh, tension she hadn't realized she carried finally easing out of her body at his touch and closeness. "This is more than enough, Harper. It's perfect."
The arrival of her best friend/sister-in-law earns a smile. "I like them. They're pretty and - "
Eyes go wide at the appearance of the cart. Siobhan opens her mouth, but nothing comes out.

#

"Jesus, Jenna, did you buy out the entire shop?" Harper shakes his head at his sister, and grins.
Then he frowns again, rubbing his hand over Siobhan's side. "They're just waiting until your dad can take a look at it. The healing was taking longer than it should have, and you know it only speeds up the healing process, not actually completes it."
Beat.
"I'm sure you can be out on tour again soon. Unless you'd rather stay home and stress over the wedding."

#

Jenna laughs at the reaction. "It's not all for you. I was thinking of bringing a teddy bear to Brooke, and that girl Lizzie? The one that looks like me. She's in a room by herself right now. I don't know if her mother's here or not, but I've been by that room twice and she's all alone."
Beat.
"But the magazines, book, and chocolate are for you! And the bear with the wings."

#

Siobhan smiles at Harper's words. "Those are the words I was looking for."
A slight frown and a nod are given at Harper's explanation. She feels drained of magic and just plain drained. If her body's natural reserves of iron and calcium and proteins are depleted, magical healing would do more harm than good. It doesn't mean she likes it. Just that she accepts it.
"I could do that." Siobhan means it. Dealing with the wedding stuff will be a lot less stressful than jumping back into a tour. She's not sure she's ready to be away from home again yet, anyway. There's time to figure it out, but right now, home is where she wants to be.
"She's alone?" Siobhan frowns at that. "You should visit her, then, yeah, take her a bear. She's a dancer. At Julliard." That's mostly what Siobhan remembers about Lizzie right now, and she hates the thought of the girl being all alone after all that's happened.
"Because I'm such an angel?" Siobhan teases with a light yawn.

#

"Whatever you want, Flutterbee. No pressure. You know I can just set Jenna free and she'll give you the wedding of your dreams." Harper winks at her sister, then wraps his arm around his wife.
"Yes, depleted is the way Brooke's aunt put it. She could tackle your minor injuries, but not broken bones. I'm sure it'll be fine, Shiv. You may just need to rest for a day or two before they try again."

#

"I think her mom is coming in, but she doesn't have anyone here yet. There's a lot of people that don't have family or friends here yet." Some are from a lot further than New York, as far as Jenna's figured out.
"And no, because you like butterflies, and it's the closest thing they had."
Beat.
"Juilliard? Really? What are the chances you'd run into another dancer?" Grinning, she leans in and gives her friend a little hug. "I missed you, bestie."

#

"We'll let her plan Chris' party first."
"I think I'll go with angelic." It's a good sign, Siobhan joking. She's not one hundred percent. She likely won't be one hundred percent for a long time, but being surrounded with family and friends is a good start.
"I know, right?" She returns the hug as best she can. "I missed you, too."

"Siobhan!" Her mother's voice rings from the doorway, and Dawna Knight rushes to her daughter's bedside. She stops at the foot of the bed, staring down at her oldest child with tears in her eyes. "Oh, my poor baby girl …"

Siobhan sighs and holds out a hand to her mother. "I'm okay, Mom."

"Siobhan Emilie Knight Donovan! You are not okay. You were just - you are - "

"Going to be alright," Robert interjects. He's taken a bit of a slower time entering the room, and has Siobhan's chart in his hand. Her primary care assigned doctor was rather protective of it; her belief is that doctor parents and loved ones are worse than doctors as patients. "Though it's going to take time, Flutterbee." He looks like hell, is in need of a shave, but his relief and love for his daughter will be felt quite strongly by the Donovan twins.
Before Harper can make a move to clear the bed, Robert waves at him. "Stay where you are. That's your place now, Harper." Robert knows that patients need physical contact and reassurance as much as they need medicine.

#

Harper immediately moves to leave the bed when Siobhan's parents enter. Habit. His ears tinge a little red when he's told to stay where he is, and he pulls Siobhan just a little closer. His lips brush over her cheek, and he whispers, "See? You just need a bit of time. I promise you though, that orthopedic surgeon did everything to make sure your ankle would heal perfectly."
Beat.
"Isn't that right, Dr. Robert?"

#

Jenna squeaks and moves out of the way of Dawna. "Can I get you guys a coffee? A tea? Something to eat? I don't mind running back down to get something for everyone. I know you've not had a lot of time to worry about that kind've thing…"

#

"Looking at your x-rays, Flutterbee, that ankle is going to heal up like a charm. The doctor did a better job than I could have," Robert agrees. It's not just words to make his daughter feel better. The best ortho handled Siobhan's ankle and his daughter will be dancing on it in the very near future and for years to come.

"See?" Siobhan accepts her mother's hug, though she slumps back against Harper and the pillows rather tiredly. "I told you that I'm okay. I'm a fighter. Isn't that what you've always said, Mommy?"

Her mother strokes a hand though her hair, then squeezes her hand and reaches out to squeeze Harper's as well. "Yes, I have. And you are."

Siobhan smiles faintly, then looks curiously at her father. "How long am I going to have to wear the cast, though, really?"

Robert gazes at his daughter for a long moment. This is one of those moments when he recognizes that his children are too smart for their own good. She'll ask the right questions, and root around for the right answers.
Grabbing a chair, Robert pulls it up to foot of the bed. "Your ankle wasn't healing properly from the typical healing Siobhan because according to Ria Bishop, your magical reserves are completely depleted. I didn't do a scan to check, but just sitting here, I don't sense your magic at the same levels that are typical. On top of that, all your numbers are low. Iron, potassium, vitamin d, vitamin b12, even vitamin c is borderline. Bone density test show mild calcium leeching. None of these is permanent, but they will all affect the healing and I know that you know that."
Robert reaches out and places a hand on her good foot. "You're going to be given high level infusions for the next twenty fours, and that's just to push your levels up. After that, you're going to be on a vitamin regimen and a monitored diet to restore your body. We'll see how you're healing and where your levels are in a few weeks. If it's all looking good, then we'll see about trying a proper healing again. If not, you might be stuck dealing with that cast like a normal person." There is another issue that they will have to attend to, but Robert isn't going to broach that subject with her right now. She needs to feel comfortable and safe before he suggests that she meet with a therapist to discuss what happened.
Beat.
"Thank you for the offer, Jenna, but that won't be necessary. Dawna and I won't be staying long. Siobhan's going to need some rest and not over-stimulation from her over protective parents." It's said with a gentle smile, but it's a bittersweet feeling. He loves his daughter, but the sorcerer can recognize that she needs her husband more than her parents. It's how it should be.

#

"Shit," Harper says, when he hears how bad it actually is. Not about the ankle, but about the depletion. "We'll ensure that you're getting all the proper vitamins, Flutterbee." Glancing at Robert, he watches the man a moment.
My mother can help find someone for her, unless she's comfortable seeing her. I can bring it up with her next time she wakes up.
It's the first time he's spoken to Robert in such a manner, but he can tell what he's thinking, and as they're all technically family it makes it alright.
"Plenty of fruit and vegetables. Calcium? No problem. I'll send Jenna out for your favorite ice cream as often as you want it," he teases lightly.

#

"Oh, well, if you're sure. I was thinking of going to look in on a few of the people that don't have any family here." Biting her lip, she blushes a little. "Shiv's in good hands for comfort, and they can reach any of the rest of us if they need something." The little empath moves toward each of her best friend's parents and gives them a hug in turn.
"I promise I'll be here if either of you need something too."

#

"It could have been a great deal worse. Weeks in that state and her body would have started to respond in ways that aren't necessarily reversible," Robert states. He gives his daughter's foot another squeeze. "You are going to be fine, Siobhan. You will need to follow doctor's orders, have patience and not overtax yourself."
Beat.
"I'm sure Harper, Jenna and Preston will keep you in line."
He blinks at Harper after he realizes what's happening. He knows what Harper can do, but he's never experienced it before. Giving his son-in-law a subtle nod, he hopes the young man picks up on the thought that he'll leave that conversation in Harper's capable hands.

"I haven't had mint chocolate chip in a long time," Siobhan gives a tiny little yawn and snuggles down into the pillow.

"You're so wonderful, Jenna." Dawna gives the little empath a hug. "Thank you. We'll let you know if we need anything, though I think what we all need is a good, restful sleep." Which they can have now that they aren't worrying about Siobhan.

"The hospital can provide you a cot, Harper," Robert suggests gently. Cuddling with Siobhan is all well and good, but neither of them will sleep comfortably that way for an extended period of time. He knows that were it him, and Dawna in that bed, he wouldn't be keen on leaving her side, even to catch a brief catnap.

#

"I'll call the nurses station and arrange for one to be brought in. Siobhan does need to rest and recuperate. I just figured that a half hour like this wouldn't be too bad if it made her calmer." Harper has no intention of leaving the room. He promised himself that she wouldn't wake up alone. If he does have to leave the room for any reason, he'll have Jenna come sit with her.
"Can you send Christian in before you all head off to a hotel? I know he likely needs to sleep too, but I'd like to thank him."

#

"I try to be. Daddy arranged rooms for you all at the hotel we're staying at. You just need to ask for the key at the desk. A suite for you all, and another for Ariel, your sister and your mother." Jenna nibbles on her lip, and then pulls everything else for Shiv off the cart. Setting it up around the room, she smiles.
"It's just a block from here, so you can head back whenever you want to."
Beat.
"I'm going to deliver this to that Lizzie girl, and see if her family is on the way. No one should be alone after that."

#

"There's nothing wrong with it at all. Medicine encourages contact for children but forgets the rest of us need it too." Robert makes his way to the head of the bed and leans down to kiss his daughter's head. It's a bit jarring to feel just how weak she is right now, when he's so accustomed to the rushing rapids of power rippling through her. Medically, he knows she will recover. Emotionally, as her father, he frets.

"Ariel's here?" Siobhan is almost asleep now, what little energy she worked up fading fast. That and she has no doubt that there are some pain meds in that IV with the antibiotic too.

"Yes," Dawna says, giving her daughter's hand a squeeze as she takes her husband's with her other. "Andrea and Ariel flew out here as quick as they could. But you don't worry about that. You just get some rest. I'm sure they won't leave until you're awake enough to remember seeing them."

"We'll send Chris in," Robert promises before they leave the room. He gives Harper a last look, "You make sure to get some rest and food and take care of yourself, too, Harper. You're no good to Siobhan if you're exhausted and worn out."

Dawna circles around the bed to give Harper a hug before leaving. He is family now, and this has been as hard on him as it is on them. Jenna gets another hug too as they depart. "Keep an eye on your brother," Dawna whispers in her ear. "Men don't always know how to take care of themselves when they're worried. That's why they need us." She's aware that Harper might pick up on her thoughts, if not her words, but this way she can give the appearance of not overly mothering him as well.

#

"Ariel knew before I did," Harper says, giving a pointed look to his sister. "But I guess no one wanted to worry me too much before exams were over." He can be upset about it, but in a way he's glad that they handled it like that. It gave him less time to be worried out of his mind, and more time to focus on things he could do to improve things with Shiv if she was found.
"I'll be alright," he tells Robert. "I'll have my dad or Pres bring me up some food once she's sleeping again, and the cot is set up in the room."

#

Jenna shoots her brother an apologetic look, and then hugs Dawna. "You know I will. You think I'm going to let Shivvie out of my sight for too long right now?" She'll probably tire herself out, but she'll come back and forth between the rooms as often as possible. At least until the families of people still waiting show up. They need care and attention too, and probably don't want to be left alone.
"I should go check in on Mr. Collins too, and see if he needs anything."

#

"Just don't go," Siobhan murmurs, holding tight to Harper's hand. I don't want to wake up alone. Her thoughts are tired and disjointed, and the dancer is slowly drifting back off to slumber.
"Sunscreen," comes out of the witch's mouth before she finally drops off to a relaxed sleep.

Dawna blinks at her daughter and shakes her head. She has no idea what that last comment was about. "I'll stop by with you, Jenna. I'd like to find out how Brooke is doing before we head over to the hotel."

#

"Not going anywhere," Harper tells her. He will go get the nurse once she falls asleep, if only to get a cot brought in. He'll have it pulled up against her bed, and sleep there, just to give her the room she needs to recuperate.
"I… uhm…" Harper shrugs his shoulders. All he's getting from her on that is distorted images, and he's not going to comment on those because he knows she's in pain and sleep deprived.
"Bring sunscreen when you come back then, Jenna?"

#

"Sunscreen. Got it." Jenna gives her friend a strange look, but just shakes her head.
"Oh! Sure! I'll go there first before seeing Lizzie then." Glancing at the cart, she furrows her brow. "I was going to say roses for her, but I think the one that looks a bit more like wild flowers would be better. It has a nicer vase too." Wheeling the cart toward the door, she turns and blows a kiss to her brother and bestie. "I'll be back in a bit. Hit my cell if you need anything, Harper."
